About Love Louisville
Imagine this: It's an ordinary Saturday in October, and you're running errands in your car. As you pull into to a gas station, a stranger walks up to you.You roll your eyes: Obviously, she's about to ask for money. But instead, she just smiles ... and hands you a $2 bill!
You figure there must be some kind of catch, and try to give it back. But the woman assures you that this contribution to your fillup is simply a way of demonstrating God's love! Then as she walks away (leaving you flabbergasted), you notice she's wearing a shirt that says "Love Louisville."
A few minutes later, you pull up to a traffic light and see more people in Love Louisville shirts. This time, someone walks up to your window and offers you a free Coke! "Regular or Diet?" the person asks with a smile.
Completely taken aback, you accept a Coke and ask why he's doing this.
"Oh, I'm just showing God's love in a practical way," he replies.
On the way home, you see even more folks in Love Louisville shirts. Some of them are picking up garbage at a park. Others are handing out bags of groceries in a low-income neighborhood. Still more are doing a free car wash (no donations accepted).
You drive home completely astonished. "Do people really do stuff like this anymore?" you mutter aloud.
You haven't had much to do with God in a while, but this is making you rethink what his love is all about. Nobody just gives stuff away on streetcorners. You haven't seen people do something like this since ... well, ever!
Getting InvolvedLove Louisville Day is a one-day event dedicated to showing God's kindness with no strings attached. We'll send as many as 100 teams into the streets with a simple mission: to give stuff away. Our goal is to demonstrate God’s grace to thousands of people. Just like the things we give away—whether it's our time or a bag of groceries—the love of Jesus is a free gift.
No matter where you are in your faith journey (and whether you go to church or not), Love Louisville Day is for everyone!
